interactive 8-week program

Vibrant Father Workshop

8-weeks to a lifetime of greater connection, confidence and pleasure as a dad.

Becoming a father isn’t about having a child. It’s an inner transformation forged in the emotional space between being a son and becoming a father. Give yourself the time to become the father you’ll be proud of.

As a new dad I learned the hard way—stumbling forward, guided by love, doing my best and often feeling like a failure.

Vibrant Father is the workshop and community I would have loved to have as a younger father.

The Vibrant Father workshop is a unique, highly interactive 8-week program focused on your inner development as a man so you can be more present and grounded with yourself and your family. In each weekly 2-hour gathering you’ll explore and share one step on the emotional and behavioural path from your dependent child-oriented self to your confident, calm and compassionate mature father self.

The first four weeks you circle back to explore your childhood self, the final four weeks you weave this awareness into your present to build your emotional self-awareness, self-trust and self-leadership as a man, co-parent and father. You’ll explore your family history, identify your hopes and fears and get honest with yourself about your coping mechanisms and emotional self-regulation.

Vibrant Father BLACKborder

Vibrant Father harnesses the transformative power of men-in-community. You’ll be witnessed by other men, and you’ll bear witness to their struggles, growth and transformation.

Along with 16 hours of interactive group workshop, the program includes: two individual coaching sessions, weekly buddy-sessions, a comprehensive self-discovery journal (that you can return to again and again as needed), and core reading and listening resources.

The One-to-One Coaching Sessions

Vibrant Father  includes two one-to-one coaching sessions, in person or via Zoom. These individual sessions give you a chance to dive deep and explore a particular aspect of fatherhood with which you’re struggling, and find new, positive ways forward.

“Those of us who remain unaware of the personal hurts and rejections of our boyhoods will tend unconsciously to pass them on to our children. Introspection and awareness of our personal motivations and history are prerequisites to good fathering.”

Vibrant Father: Q&A

If you’re a dad reading this you’re probably thinking: F*ck, I’d love the results, but I don’t have time for that! I barely have time to crap on a Saturday morning. You’re deep in the weeds of fatherhood: busy with work, parenting, illness, commuting, renovations, sleep deprivation, caring for your aging parents, trying to find time to work out, see a friend, and have a date night. I get it. I’ve been there. It’s why I created Vibrant Father. It’s about doing what’s essential so you can consciously do the things that are important. My take: by slowing down and getting real with yourself and other men, you’ll avoid the arguments, familial blowouts, and subsequent self-soothing (i.e., hangovers, shame from some behavior…) that really eat up time.

This program is for men of all ages and stages of fatherhood, whether you have a newborn, preschoolers, teenagers or young adults. The core relational challenges of fatherhood, whether with ourselves, our kids or our extended family, are the same throughout life. The program is interactive—you’ll share your experiences and listen to and learn from other men. It’s this mix of ages and stages that enables you to see how fatherhood has core elements that extend across a lifetime.

Vibrant Dad is 100% confidential. Participants sign confidentiality agreements.

All good. You’ll get SO much from it!

Vibrant Father focuses on the psychological essentials of fatherhood. This said, in exploring your relationship with anger, fear, intimacy and beyond, you’ll discover lots of things that will improve everything from bedtime to holiday dynamics. When you are more self-trusting and grounded, you’re way more creative and able to discover your own solutions.

Vibrant Father is currently for men (fathers and stepfathers) with kids. I’m envisioning a version for dads-to-be. Join the mailing list to stay tuned.

Is Vibrant Father for me? It is if you go “Yeah!” to any of the following:

  • You feel overwhelmed by the desire to be the perfect dad.
  • You’ve told yourself “I’m not going to be like my dad was!”
  • You want more intimacy, connection, warmth and laughter in your life as a dad.
  • You feel like an outsider in your own family.
  • You feel lonely as a father.
  • You’re ready to gather with other men and share your hopes, fears and experience of fatherhood.
  • You feel a father wound, a longing to connect with your father and father energy.
  • You’re trying so hard to be a good dad but getting negative feedback from partner and kids.
  • You know you could be a happier dad but don’t know how to get there.
  • You’re numbing-out with alcohol, drugs, sex/porn to deal with stress.
  • You’re acting as a dad in ways that you don’t like, but can’t stop.
  • You’re ready to explore your personal and family story and how it’s showing up in your life.

“We may no longer have a tradition of [fatherhood] rituals in the West, but as fathers become more and more involved with their children, we need to begin a new set of traditions aimed at recognizing and supporting men as they endeavour to successfully navigate this life-changing journey.”
